“When he [Bobby] was young I was competing him in a lot of jumping shows until finally he went clear and now I don’t compete him very often in the jumping shows. I don’t compete him in dressage any more because my points of dressage are too high that I would have to compete him against the top dressage horses and it’s not worth that he will not be placed there while he does not have the gaits like a dressage horse so I don’t ride him that intensive, I ride him for fun.

I really enjoy being selected for the team but this time I said we have to have more goals

“I was very proud that Horsewear Hale Bob did such a wonderful job in all three disciplines – he was perfect in the dressage, it was fun, he really enjoyed cross country and then the clear round in the show jumping really made me very proud of him.

“Luck is where preparation meets opportunity so we see if I have another opportunity. Most important is that we stay all healthy — the horses stay healthy and I stay healthy and I think we just keep going and see what comes.

“The Brits were just the best and this is our sport — three disciplines and all three count together and they all dod lovely cross country rides, super show jumping rounds so I think they earned the medal — they really fought for it, they deserved it and Chris [Bartle] as well. Always in sport the best has to win and they were better.
