Podcast length: 23′ 26″

On this week’s episode Siri & Bek discuss the importance of debriefing after a race, and why you should visualize everything—when things go wrong as well as right—be prepared and you will handle anything.  Look for how can you make each one the best race possible, and when things don’t go according to plan always to handle it with calmness and grace.  We all know that athletic performance of any kind takes a village so athletes should remember the support of family and friends, be sure to celebrate them and think about them when you’re training and racing. Do it graciously and gratefully for everyone that’s making this journey possible for you.

Siri Lindley & Mirinda Carfree

A big part of the ‘village’ is the sport’s volunteers so remember to acknowledge them to show your appreciation of how they are supporting you by their own efforts.  Whatever your performance consider what kind of an example you are to younger generations; your impact on them and why you should always aspire to be an inspiration.  After the race it’s just as important for recovery to have a routine like taking an Epsom Salts bath, even after a big training session this will be helpful. Aim to return to being a normal person, not just a triathlete, give your body time to recover properly—even as much as two months after an Ironman. And always celebrate a victory, be proud and take every opportunity to learn and grow so it  sets you up for the next race.
