On this week’s show Chris Stafford caught up with British eventer Lissa Green who is preparing for her second four star event this year as she heads to the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials at the end of this month. Lissa withdrew before the show jumping phase at Badminton Horse Trials this spring to save her partner Malin Head Clover (Ali G) for another day, and not least of all because she was extremely ill during the event. Lissa is of course the daughter of David & Lucinda Green who have both competed at Burghley but Lissa who describes herself as born to ride and bred to event has her own point to prove.
So what excites her about the chance to ride at this iconic four-star event: “Everything, the Trout Hatchery in particular, I’ve always wanted to jump that, that just looks so cool going through all those water fences backwards and forwards.”
And future goals include a run at the Kentucky Four Star Event: ” That would be amazing, I’ve always dreamt of going to America to compete. That would be another incredible dream. The Americans are great, they are always so behind all their horses, the crowds over there are brilliant so it would be wonderful to see it first-hand rather than just hear about it.”
