Dr. Juliet McGratten was a General Practitioner for 16 years before she decided to hang up her stethoscope and follow her passion, using medical knowledge and experience to improve the health of women through physical activity. She published her first book Sorted: The Active Woman’s Guide to Health in 2017 and won first prize in the Popular Medicine category at the 2018 British Medical Association Medical Book Awards. Juliet is the resident Health Expert for Women’s Running UK magazine and a regular contributor for other publications. She is the Women’s Health Lead and Master Coach for the 261 Fearless global network which was founded by pioneer marathon runner Kathrine Switzer, to empower women to find courage through running. Juliet is the Founder and Director of 261 Fearless Club UK and a founding member and coach of her local clubs 261 Fearless Club Lune Valley and 261 Fearless Club Lancaster.
She worked for three years for Public Health England as the Lead Champion for Physical Activity in the North West of England. And as we will hear she loves to run from 5k to Marathon races. She says; I’m not a fast or a hugely accomplished runner but to me that’s not important. Running and sport in general is all about fun. I want to get as many people up out of their chairs as possible and experiencing the joy and benefits that exercise brings.’
